![]() I bought " Learning Their Language", 2003, in preparation for it. It was spring 2006 and astoundingly, a California communicator was about to teach a private workshop two hours from home, Marta Williams. I not expect anything metaphysically cutting-edge nearer than Lily Dale, New York or California. Imagine beginning to understand animals' answers to conversation and a more detailed, personalized awareness of their preferences and needs!Īfter discovering animal communication in a wondrous book by Richard Webster that changed my life, I searched for practitioners in Manitoba. We can all open that channel, exercise that muscle, when we turn off distractions starting with that pooh-poohing deterrent, derived from a warped obeisance and covetousness of "logic". The only blockage is brainwashing ourselves that this intuitive muscle cannot exist. We all have it but in the last few hundred years, societies developed an inferior attitude towards other souls. Nature is always speaking in our original, preverbal language: telepathy or "intuitive communication". Why is animal communication proof? Because this concept is the methodology for learning how to receive our animals' end of a conversation! The being who has been missing one side of the ability for conversation, was never *them*! Photos by Kamil Krajewski, Vira Kosina-Polańska, Iga Repetowska, Patrycja Filarska. One of my very first, pivotal introductions to the essential world of animal communication: the proof that animals are fully capable of ANSWERING us! The reason we presumed animals were inferior, a supposed inability to speak, is smashed with this proof and it's paramount to spread. SHIFTERS was shown at FOTOFESTIVAL ŁÓDŹ, PHOTOESPANA, BELFAST PHOTO FESTIVAL, ATHENS PHOTO FESTIVAL, CIRCULATION(S) FESTIVAL in PARIS, RATP INVITE (Paris subway exhibition), INSTITUTE OF PHOTOGRAPHY FORT, MELKWEG EXPO in Amsterdam, KRAKOW PHOTOMONTH 2021, TIFF FESTIVAL WROCLAW 2020, and Rotacyjny Dom Kultury in Warsaw. SHIFTERS project currently consists of: an artist book combining archival images and my own research, video work & self-designed bags for animals, archive of photographs and materials, audio-visual workshops, 10 audio pieces for 10 archival photographs. ![]() The post-human & new materialist theories try to incorporate feelings and experiences of non-human actors into their realm of reflection, and philosophy tries to expand into seeing the Other as possibly not only human. This is as well a philosophical question for me: how to think of this kind of subjectivity? What form does it have? How can it be formulated in the language of law? New technologies will help us in developing more understanding of animal capacities for sure. Taking this into account I want to relate this multifaceted story to the one of the liberation of animals, the ideas more and more common nowadays that 'our smaller brothers', and even nature, are agents, have subjectivity, should have more rights. The term 'agent' is an interesting one: it means both a spy, an informant but as well a subject doing action. I am interested in tracing back the historical chapters about animals in war & espionage (more generally used by humans in their war machine).Ī former CIA expert said in an interview that any animal, no matter how insignificant it might seem, can be trained and used. Taking this as a somewhat anecdotal beginning I am investigating the use of animals as soldiers, spies, police, kamikaze. They were all seriously accused of some kind of spying and the information about it appeared in mainstream media. To name a few: suspicious squirrels, spying dolphins, misidentified stork (swan), nuclear lizards, photographer pigeon. This project started with a collection of articles (published between 2005 and today) that refer to animal spies. SHIFTERS is my ongoing project a continuation of my interest in espionage and its legacies. The publication is available in ONLINE SHOP ![]() It was on the shortlist for LUMA RENCONTRES DUMMY BOOK AWARD ARLES 2020, KASSEL DUMMY AWARD 2020, and MACK First Book Award 2020. SHIFTERS publication won the PHotoESPANA BEST INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK OF THE YEAR 2022!! It received as well a SPECIAL MENTION at Polish Best Photopublication of the Year 2022.
